⁸ The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.”^(A) So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.

³ When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws,^(A) they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.”^(B)

⁷ Then he took the Book of the Covenant^(A) and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”^(B)

²⁵ But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer.^{(A) 26} For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?^{(B) 27} Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says.^(C) Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey.”^(D)

²⁸ The Lord heard you when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, “I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good.^{(E) 29} Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me^(F) and keep all my commands^(G) always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!^(H)

² He said:

²³ But Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule^(A) over you.”
